Our brown farm fresh eggs come from a variety of different breeds of hens raised on pasture, with access to locally sourced non-GMO soy-free feed and fresh water. They spend their days doing what chickens do best, scratching and pecking in the sunshine, taking dust bathes, and acting as natural weed and pest control, only returning to their coops at night or to nest, giving a true meaning to cage-free pasture raised eggs.
Why farm fresh eggs?
- A more diverse diet for hens leads to more nutritional value in their eggs
- More golden yolks and stiffer egg whites than most eggs found in the grocery store
- Eggs are fresh! The eggs we sell have all been laid in the last five days
- Helps support local farmers
What size of eggs do you sell?
In order to properly size an egg into medium, large, extra large and jumbo - like those found in the grocery store - you weigh them. Here at Sycamore Spring Farm we don't weigh our eggs, so therefore we separate them into two different categories for sale: unsized eggs (unclassified size) and pullet eggs.
Unsized (Unclassified) Eggs: Generally medium to extra large in size
Goose Eggs - SEASONAL AVAILABILITY: Laid by our flock of guard geese, who help to keep our chickens safe year 'round, goose eggs are available during the springtime months. (Note: if baking with goose eggs, one goose eggs equals approximately two unsized chicken eggs.)
