We raise a variety of breeds of pigs for meat.  Unlike commercially raised pigs you buy at the grocery store, our pigs will spend the majority of their lives outside in the woodlands after they leave our nursery paddock a few weeks after arrival on the farm.  The pigs roam the shady rotational paddocks as they root up tender roots and plants, cool off in mud wallows, and munch on the greenery and nuts within their reach.  There the pigs have access to all the nutritional benefits the woodlands hold, along with feed and fresh water.  Once they arrive on our farm, the young pigs are fed locally sourced transitional organic/organic non-GMO soy-free grains.  These pigs never see antibiotics or hormones before they arrive at your dinner table.  Whole pigs are delivered to the butcher so you can receive the cuts exactly how you want.

How much meat do I need?

A whole or half of a pig may seem like a lot of meat at first, but keep in mind when purchasing a whole or half of a pig, you are essentially purchasing all the pork products you would eat in the course of six months to a year.    A whole pig will last a family of four about six months if you eat pork products three times a week.

How much space will I need in my freezer?

Whole pig = about 7-8 cubic feet of freezer space

Half pig = about 3-4 cubic feet of freezer space

How do I cook all the different cuts of pork?

Perhaps you've never cooked with lard, or maybe you're just looking for some new recipes to use up all your pork?  Be sure to check out our Recipe Box!  We're currently adding more family favorites from our dinner table, to help you make the most of the meat and produce you purchase.
